Before sending a full project on the RANCH, please send a Rendering test.
Send on the Farm a Render of 6 to 10 significant frames in low resolution.
This will help you check that:
To be sure your assets and cache files are loaded correctly and packed accordingly in the .vub archive.
1. Use the latest RANCHecker version
Be sure to have installed the latest RANCHecker version.
2. Use only alpha numeric characters
Avoid any space or special characters in you paths (files or directory): use only alphanumerical values [A..Z][a..z][0..9] or “-” or “_”, that's it.
Example:
ELETRO3D Project/Kitchen & appliances/76XDR.blend
- Should be -
ELETRO3D_Project/KitchenAndAppliances/76XDR.blend
3. Use the Blender function: Pack all into .blend
Before RANCHecking your scene:
Use - Blender → File → External data → Pack all into .blend
Save your scene.
This allow to embed all your textures into your .blend file
4. Special case: cache directory and files
The Blender RANCHecker does not embed automatically yet the external cache files in the .vub archive.
Some manual steps are required to properly render your caches:
1) Put your caches in the same location than your scene (you can add a subfolder if you want, ex: cache/myCache.xxx)
2) Set relative path for your caches in your Blender scene. (ex: …\cache\myCache.xxx)
If you have a lot of caches you can use File > External Data > Make Paths Relative
3)Create the .vub with RANCHecker.
4) Open the .vub archive with 7zip.
5) Drag & drop your directory cache/ in the .vub
The .vub file created by RANCHecker is actually a .zip file renamed into “.vub”. So you can insert your caches inside it
5.To prepare your project:
- If needed only, include referenced or linked external scenes into your main scene,
(This may increase a lot the size of your scene, please save it under a new name.)
* Select all
* Objects → Relations → Make Local → All
- Use the functionality:
* File → External data → pack Ressources
* File → External data → pack linked libraries
- Save your scene
- Select the directory where your archive will be generated with the “Destination” option, then click on the Create Archive button, it will check your scene and the assets, then create a .vub archive file with all the needed files.
- Eventually, you can upload this .vub file (your project) to the RANCH!
The new .vub archive should behave as expected on the farm.
