Indigo

Specific features

The RANCH offers specific features for unbiased renderers in general, and Indigo in particular:

  • Ability to resume cooperative projects
  • Ability to process and merge layered IGIs
  • Ability to target a cooperative Samples Per Pixel (SPP) number
  • A denoising pass is automatically applied to cooperative renders
  • The waiting list displays in real time an approximation of the current global Samples Per Pixel (SPP) number reached while rendering a cooperative project.

Cost calculation

The total time of a project, which determines its cost, includes:

  • the distribution of the project across the network,
  • the preparation / warming up phase,
  • the render time itself that you specify in the submit project form,
  • and the merging of all IGIs into the final IGI.

Important information about scene preparation

It is VERY important that you read carefully this section before submitting a scene. It will help you to avoid common mistakes.

  • Please verify before sending the scene that you have saved it with all the correct parameters. It is your responsibility to provide the scene with every parameter correctly set. The scene will be rendered exactly as you send it.
  • Before sending your scene to the farm, reload it on your computer and begin a render at full resolution for a few minutes, just to check that everything is all right and that your scene does not cause a crash or other potential problem. Make sure that the IGI file produced by your scene is ⇐ 5 GB (the limit accepted by the RANCH).
  • Do not use accentuated / non-alphanumeric characters, spaces, apostrophes and dots in the filenames of your project (scene, textures, objects, etc.). To avoid any possible parsing problems on the RANCH Runner, please use only letters and numbers. You can also use the “_” sign (underscore) to replace spaces.
